We received some great news since last week! Rosemary Wafula, the Founder and Executive Director of the Brydges Centre in Kenya, sent word that Kenya’s national exams were just completed by the children finishing grade school.
In stark contrast to the U.S., children in Kenya must take entrance exams to attend high school as a part of a highly competitive process. Once that hurdle is overcome, children must then pay for tuition, room, board, and uniforms in order to attend. Many children cannot overcome these hurdles and are left behind, unable to live up to their God-given potential.
The great news: 19 Brydges Centre students from our very own grade school sat for the national exams and ALL 19 placed in the top 25% of national scores! Many scored at the very top of the national scale.
This means every child will be given the opportunity to go to the best possible high schools, with all expenses covered by the Centre’s donors like you. Rosemary’s message to us ended with this:
“Brydges Centre students will ALWAYS be the head and NEVER the tail!”
A Twenty-Four Year Legacy
Rosemary’s statement speaks to the founding ethos of the Brydges Centre. Since the beginning, Rosemary has empowered children to be everything they can be, and to do so with excellence. Children join the Brydges Centre family after being abandoned, abused, neglected, or even sold by their birth families. Rosemary, the Centre’s staff, and supporters like YOU have changed over 600 lives through this enduring legacy.
With Love,
The Board, Leadership, and Children of the Brydges Centre Family
