Bethany from the Brydges Centre Family was featured earlier this summer as one of seven “miracle-makers” heading out to pursue university degrees and career dreams.
We are also excited to share that Bethany was chosen to share at an event called the World Day Against Human Trafficking, which made the Kenyan news! Bethany service as the Children’s Parliament Secretary for Kajiado County along with her communications gifts made this opportunity possible.
In the broadcast, Bethany states,
“Our actions today will shape the world of tomorrow. The issue of trafficking and exploitation is around us; we all must be aware and we must be willing to do something.”
BETHANY is willing doing something about trafficking in Kenya! By supporting the Brydges Centre, YOU are also doing something about trafficking in Kenya!
You can watch a clip of her speech by clicking HERE; she is featured at the 1 minute, 16-second mark of the 2 minute clip.
Bethany’s representation of the need is amazing considering the Centre had taken in 17 badly abused and trafficked children earlier this year who are now enrolled in school, rediscovering childhood, and living with a sense of home.
Bethany’s speech comes in the context of being blessed by the Brydges Centre Family herself. Years back, before she entered high school, Bethany shared this beautiful poem with us:
While the world looks upon me as I struggle along,
They say I’ve got nothing but they are so wrong.
In my heart I am rejoicing I wish they could see,
Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on me.
There’s a roof above me, I’ve got a good place to sleep,
There is food on my table and shoes on my feet.
You give me Your love Lord and a fine family,
Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on me.
I know I’m not wealthy, these clothes are not new,
I don’t have much money, but Lord I have You.
And that’s all that matters that the world may not see,
Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on me.
Even as a child, Bethany had a gift with words and a foundation of faith in God. Today, she is studying communications as a university student and serving as an advocate for those who have no voice. We are so proud of who she is and the kind of “miracle-maker” she will be for Kenya!
You can support the Brydges Centre’s mission to change the future of Kenya, one child at a time!
With Love,
Bob, Nancy, Rosemary Wafula, the Staff and Children
